This photo was taken aboard one of the ferries that carry people, animals, vehicles and goods across the Cook Strait between the North and South Islands of New Zealand. Without flying, the ferries are the only way to cross the Strait, because there is no bridge. This image demonstrates the importance of sea carriage to humans, and also the natural beauty of this particular crossing.
