A remnant from the huge tragedy of World War 2, the wreck of the HMS Maori in Marsamxett Harbour, Valletta, nowadays is a hotspot for fish to find shelter in an otherwise reef-devoid harbour.

This site provides also a nursing ground for small groupers to grow and has been a nesting site for many other species. It is in serious need of protection from illegal fishing.
