Many living things on earth are said to have been born from the depths of the ocean through a mysterious yet beautiful process of 'evolution'. Even deities like Aphrodite, the Goddess of Love- one of the primordial forms of human emotions was believed to have been born of the sea. This photo shows a woman standing on the shore of an untainted beach in appreciation of its boundless beauty and in defiance to the ingratitude we show to the very thing that contributes to the sustainability of our lives. Sometimes we forget the importance of the ocean in providing not just our food for survival but also enrichment to our lives by its vast and ironically breathtaking beauty. It is my hope that viewers of this photo are reminded to cherish and respect our oceans and everything they host because after all, they have been around long before we were born and our very lives/livelihood depended on them. Sunset self-portrait, 15 sec, 12mm, f22, ISO100, at Tempurung Beach,Kuala Penyu, Sabah.
