My daughter enjoying a well-deserved break from studying at the seafront of the town of Swanage in Dorset, located toward the eastern end of the Jurassic Coast World Heritage Site. From its beginnings as a fishing village and quarrying port, Swanage blossomed in Victorian times as a holiday destination, and has, more recently, been included in a stabilisation scheme to protect it from landslips. It has also been undergoing an upgrade of its facilities and the charming addition of prettily painted beach huts, which combine to enhance its popularity with tourists looking for an enjoyable and relaxing seaside resort where they can forget their cares and enjoy being close to nature.
