A Manta Ray, which is now a protected species in the Maldives. One of the gentle creatures of our ocean. At a lagoon in Ari Atoll, Maldives, these gentle giants come at night to the lights of anchored liveaboards to feed off the plankton that gather near the lights. To be in the water and see them feeding is one amazing sight. In some countries of the world, they are being hunted to extinction for their gills.
