Fishing is an essential industry in the Pacific islands. It is essential to the local economies as a resource to be sold and exported but also to provide a sustained food source for the local communities. It needs careful regulation so as not to be exploited or over fished.
The fish markets in Honiara Solomon Islands are one of my favourite places to visit in the Pacific. The freshness of the local produce, the characters you meet and the insight you gain into this important part of Pacific Island life is a rare treat. I don't want this to be lost to the local people. It is their life blood.
