A PhD scientist getting face to face with one of the most threatened pelagic species on earth - the Blue Shark - in order to capture photo ID marks, gender and size of the animal for critical population studies. He gets in the water to create stimulating visual imagery to 'personalize sharks', so people can engage and help conserve these threatened Apex predators, which is key to maintaining the health of our marine ecosystems. Taken in Hahei Coromandel, New Zealand.
