This image shows a tarpon hunting silversides in the grottos of George Town harbour, Grand Cayman. Every year, millions of silversides gather and fill these underwater caverns. However, climate change seems to be having a noticeable impact on silverside numbers, their arrival time seems to be getting later each year with fewer numbers seen. The Cayman Islands government has now also approved an extension and expansion of the cruise ship pier in George Town harbour. The planned dredging and coral removal will destroy many of these grottos and with it one of the most iconic underwater shows on the planet!
